Description
Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. It is a growth factor and signaling protein encoded by the FGF2 gene. FGF family members have a wide range of mitogenic and cell survival activities and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. In normal tissues, bFGF is present in the basement membrane and the extracellular matrix under the endothelium of the blood vessels. bFGF can stimulate and regulate the differentiation and proliferation of various cells originating from the mesoderm and neuroectoderm, such as vascular endothelial cells, epithelial cells, myoblasts, osteoblasts and glial cells, and plays an important role in embryonic development and tissue healing. bFGF/FGF-2 is an essential component for maintaining pluripotency in all embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell culture media.
This product is expressed by Escherichia coli and provided in liquid form with high activity, high purity, low endotoxin and no labeling.
