Description
Laminin 521 is a defined matrix for feeder-free culture of human embryonic (hES) and induced pluripotent (hiPS) stem cells. When used in combination with defined maintenance media, Laminin 521 reliably facilitates self-renewal of human hES and hiPS cells without spontaneous differentiation.
Serving as a biologically pertinent extracellular matrix for hPSCs, essential for their growth and maintenance of pluripotency in humans, Laminin 521 demonstrates robust compatibility with various commercial stem cell culture media. It effectively promotes the attachment and expansion of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) whether in single-cell or small colony formats. The function of Laminin 521 is mediated through its binding to cell receptors, specifically a6β1 integrin. Laminin 521 significantly enhances the differentiation, polarization, and organization of various cell types, including neurons, hepatocytes, cardiomyocytes, retinal pigmented epithelial cells, pancreatic β-cells, among others.
