A 83-01 是 TGF-β I 型受体 ALK5 (IC50: 12 nM)/ALK4 ((IC50: 45 nM)/ALK7 (IC50: 7.5 nM) 激酶的强效抑制剂，A 83-01 对 ALK5 有很强的抑制作用，能抑制 Smad2/3 的磷酸化和 TGF-β 诱导的生长。A 83-01 对骨形态发生蛋白 I 型受体、p38 丝裂原活化蛋白激酶或细胞外调节激酶几乎没有影响。同时，A 83-01 抑制 TGF-β 诱导的上皮间质转移，提示 A 83-01 可能有助于抑制晚期癌症的进展。
