Interleukin 2 (IL-2) is a potent immunomodulatory lymphokine produced by T cells in response to antigenic or mitogenic stimuli.IL-2/IL-2R signaling is required for T cell proliferation and other essential functions necessary for immune response.IL-2 stimulates B cell, NK cell, lymphokine-activated killer cell, monocyte, macrophage and oligodendrocyte growth and differentiation.
