描述
基质金属蛋白酶是一类依赖锌和钙的内肽酶，具有降解细胞外基质所有成分的综合能力。MMP-3（基质溶解素-1）可降解多种底物，包括胶原蛋白α 链、聚集蛋白聚糖、层粘连蛋白、纤连蛋白、弹性蛋白、酪蛋白、α-1 抗胰蛋白酶、髓鞘碱性蛋白、IL-1β、IGFBP-3、pro MMP-1、pro MMP-7、pro MMP-8、pro MMP-9 和 pro MMP-13. MMP-3 底物库的范围超出了细胞外基质蛋白的范围，并且表明 MMP-3 除了直接参与组织重塑之外还发挥其他作用，例如酶级联和细胞因子调节。
