Beskrivelse
Interleukin 7 (IL-7) is a 25 kDa cytokine in the hematopoietin family that plays an important role in lymphocyte differentiation, proliferation and survival. Mouse IL-7 shares approximately 88% aa sequence identity with rat IL-7 and 58-60% aa sequence identity with human, equine, bovine, sheep, porcine, feline and canine IL-7. Human and mouse IL-7 exhibit cross-species activity.IL-7 is produced by a variety of cells in primary and secondary lymphoid tissues, including thymus, bone marrow, and stromal epithelial cells of the intestinal tract.IL-7 contributes to the maintenance of all initial T cells and memory T cells, primarily through the promotion of the expression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2. IL-7 is essential for T cell development but not for B cell development.
